Week 3 - Scoping down

Merry Christmas!

This is the third weekly update for Fish RPG. As the title of this post states, I'm deciding to scope the project down, although not too heavily. My original plan was to aim for a total of eight floors in the castle (including the final boss's arena). My new plan is to aim for four (three "dungeon" floors, then the boss), where each floor introduced one new enemy and puzzle mechanic. With proper prioritization on my part, I'm hopeful I can reach that goal.

Prioritization has been on my mind a lot this past week. The reason I'm scoping down is that the engine rework mentioned last week still isn't finished (although I'm close). As has become a pattern for me, I'm proud of the code I've written, but investing time and energy in building these robust, high-quality, well-documented systems means I'm stuck building a foundation rather than building a game. To combat this stress, on top of scoping down the project, I plan to aggressively prioritize my vertical slice over the next two weeks.

If I'm successful, I should have a proper screenshot by next week.
